May 5th was our 19th Annual Run for the Hills! Despite the rainy weather and depressing forecast in the days leading up to the race we had a great turnout and enjoyed a sunny, warm Saturday morning. Runners and volunteers received information from a variety of vendors, enjoyed food and snow cones from Smokey Mo’s, La Consentida and Kona Ice, and listened to great music played by One Sound Productions. Furthermore, they were able to relax any sore muscles with a free post-race massage (offered by AMTA San Antonio unit) and get a free health screening at the Wellness on Wheels trailer. Kids escaped the heat and sun to go inside where they could get their face painted and clear a kids’ circuit course (manned by SV Varsity Football Team and SV Student Council).
Since some of you were unable to attend the event, I invite you to visit our FaceBook page for pictures from the event as well as a quick video that nicely summarizes the race and parts of the activities. If you took pictures or video of the event and would like to share them, please email firstname.lastname@example.org so they can be uploaded to our FB account. Thank you!
On behalf of our entire community, we would like to thank you for your contribution to this event and for your much appreciated support of our activity center. The Run for the Hills is our largest yearly fundraiser and with your help we raised more money than ever before! All proceeds from this race go to support our Meals on Wheels program, and help fund center activities and programs that encourages healthy living and dignified aging.
Next year is our 20th Annual Run for the Hills! We already starting looking at how we can make it a great family event for our community. We hope that you all join us on May 4th, 2019!
